The time until the host clears infection (y-axis: below h = 0) or the host dies (above h = 0; haematocrit < 24%), when infected, occurs between one and 100 days of age (x-axis). Parameters set to values in Tables 1 and 2. Results are shown for three different values of pf, the number of merozoites released per bursting schizont in foetal RBCs.
