We would like to add the following supplementary information for this study.
1) The DNA sequences of the primers used in this study have been referenced in the original text. For clarification, the primer sequences are as follows:
Plasmodium consensus
forward 5’-GCTCTTTCTTGATTTCTTGGATG-3’
reverse 5’-AGCAGGTTAAGATCTCGTTCG-3’
P. falciparum speciation
forward 5’-CCGACTAGGTGTTGGATGAAAGTGTTAA-3’
reverse 5’-AGCAATCTAAAAGTCACCTCGAA-3’
P. vivax speciation
forward 5’-CGCTTCTAGCTTAATCCACATAACTGATAC-3’
reverse 5’-ACTTCCAAGCCGAAGCAAAGAAAGTCCTTA-3’
2) In addition we gratefully acknowledge The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) in sponsoring sample collection at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases and contributions from Dr. Spencer D. Polley. We offer our most sincere apologies for not including this acknowledgement in the original submission.
