  1. * All results of antibodies to Variant Surface Antigens were adjusted for CD4 count on day 0 in a multivariate logistic regression model. Additional risk factors for recrudescence were high parasite density (AOR:2.64; P = 0.04), anemia (AOR:4.67; P = 0.0001) and SP treatment (AOR:7.98; P = 0.001).
