Results of QC testing (6 aliquots per parasite density) conducted at the Malaria reference laboratory prior to the initiation of proficiency testing. Data labels indicate percentage of aliquots tested correctly for each parasite density during the QC; that is, all six aliquots (100%) with parasite density 0 parasites/μl were identified as negative, none of six aliquots (0%) with parasite density 100 parasites/μl were identified as positive, only three aliquots (50%) with parasite density 200 parasites/μl were identified as positive, all six aliquots (100%) with parasite density 500 parasites/μl were identified as positive, and all six aliquots (100%) with parasite density 1000 parasites/μl were identified as positive
